When I started going to Réka’s group, way back in the Spring of 2008, it was usually just me and sometimes one other mom-to-be. Even though I speak Hungarian, I was clueless about the system here. Réka’s support, information and advice were priceless. By the time my daughter was a few months old, the group had started up again, and slowly but surely, more and more moms started to take part. By the spring of 2009, the group was thriving.
As you may have already read, expat moms are at a higher risk of postpartum depression. You may have little or no help, you may feel isolated, drained and depressed. A group like this is just what the doctor ordered. A community of people, be they from Germany, the UK, Canada, the US, Serbia or Trinidad, who are all in the same boat – having babies and raising children in a foreign country. It’s a place to share experiences and make new friends.
Come join us when you can, it’s always an uplifting experience – especially with all those cute babies!
